Anusara Yoga

Founded by John Friend in 1997, Anusara® Yoga is one of the most rapidly growing yoga systems. Anusara Yoga teaches a life-affirming philosophy that acknowledges the intrinsic good in all people and all things combined with elegant and skillful alignment principles that help all students of any ability go deeper on the yoga mat in a safe and highly effective way.

Anusara means “flowing with grace” or “aligning with nature” and Anusara Yoga is considered both the science and the art of following nature’s way to bring the practitioner into a more harmonious state of being. In each Anusara class, an uplifting philosophical theme is woven throughout the class along with skillful and concise alignment instructions, thus empowering students to cultivate ever-expanding strength, flexibility, balance, and freedom in body, mind, and spirit. This method of yoga takes the view that life is a gift to be enjoyed and skillfully engaged.
